The Landings Club in Savannah, GA Officially Opens Signature Clubhouse
The Landings Club celebrates the completion of $25 million revitalization project highlighting golf icon Arnold Palmer
5.28.20, SAVANNAH, GA – On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 10 am, The Landings Club will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the new Marshwood Clubhouse.
This new clubhouse is the final phase of a $25 million revitalization project directly answering the needs of members today and in the future. The project was voted, approved, and lead by members of The Landings Club.
“A vision for our Club was cast, and with the input of our members, we created a beautiful design,” says Executive Director Steven Freund. “We are thrilled to christen the new Marshwood Clubhouse as an homage to a man so important to golf and our Club. A special feature of this clubhouse is our dining venues—Arnie’s Tavern and Palmer’s Steakhouse—that recognize the influence Mr. Palmer had on the development of our Club and community. It’s a fresh new beginning that honors the history of one of the iconic residential golf and athletic clubs in the United States.”
Marshwood Clubhouse was the first clubhouse built at The Landings in 1974. This new clubhouse is the most significant project the Club has undergone since its formation, bringing forth a cabana bar larger than any before seen at The Landings Club, a zero-entry, resort-style pool complex, private rooms, a top of the line golf shop and an event lawn for outdoor events and croquet.
We created Arnie’s Tavern and Palmer’s Steakhouse to be bold, unique dining experiences within the clubhouse. Arnie’s Tavern is inspired by the congenial spirit of Mr. Palmer and is the ultimate 19th hole—a place to gather with friends and celebrate the game and the camaraderie that makes it special. Palmer’s Steakhouse is timeless, elegant, genuine, and inviting, featuring the finest proteins (prepared over a wood-burning grill) and composed dishes that bring modern updates to some of Arnold Palmer’s favorites.
The two golf courses that surround Marshwood Clubhouse, Marshwood and Magnolia, were designed by golf legend, Arnold Palmer. Sam Saunders, Mr. Palmer’s grandson, will speak at the ribbon-cutting. In 2019, Sam Saunders tied sixth at the CVS Charity Classic and tied tenth in the John Deere Classic. In 2017, he was one of seven players in Korn Ferry Tour history to record sub-60 round in competition.
