Monkey Man (Voted the Best Corporate Band)
Monkey Man draws from select vintage Stones tunes from “60’s, ’70’s and some ’80’s & performs them true to ragged form.
Formed in 2005 as a live backing band for native Savannahian Joe Marshall as he was killing it on the karaoke circuit with his Jagger banter, moves and Mick-antics. Monkey Man: A Stones Band was born and evolved over the last 17 years, springing forth offshoots of band branches like the self described “used, abused, rhinestone infused” music of Junkyard Angel and The Marshall Brothers. The in high demand band keeps a rigorous rehearsal schedule preparing for high energy shows in the Savannah Lowcountry, fueled by a reverent passion of the music and the joy of playing raw, unbridled rock n roll.
With Joe Marshall on vocals & guitar, Stewart Marshall, (Junkyard Angel, Stewart & Winfield) on guitar & vocals, Joe Ippolito (Junkyard Angel) on drums, Craig Johansen (Hot Pink Interior, Magic Rocks) on lead guitar and vocals, Jason Anderson (Redneck Greece Deluxe, Judge & Jury) on piano, organ & vocals, and Scott Tanner (Junkyard Angel) on bass, Monkey Man: A Stones Band can do it all: from the swooning acoustic numbers like Wild Horses to the tore down blues of Jumping Jack Flash or deep cuts like 100 Years Ago, this band studies and delivers the Stones music with palpable energy…and if you try sometimes, well you just might find, you get what you need…oh baby.
