Savannah’s largest outdoor musical event, Picnic in the Park (PIP), attracts nearly 20,000 attendees to historic Forsyth Park each October to share in the camaraderie. Free and open to the public, this event is a true collaboration with the City of Savannah, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, local colleges, and several corporate and community partners, as well as the 3rd ID and veteran groups.
Picnic in the Park not only gives Savannah Philharmonic the opportunity to share world-class music to a wide range of citizens, but it also enables us, in partnership with local schools and colleges, to give students the opportunity to perform on stage, in a live professional environment. In addition, the U.S. Army Band performs with the presentation of the US Color Guard and Salute Battalion. The combined performances and experiences will create a festive atmosphere aimed at generating social solidarity all while exposing a diverse audience to positive impacts of quality music.
